Dinosaurs!
Need I say more? Believe it or not, up until a few years ago, I didn't know that dinosaurs were real. The first time I witnessed their magnificence was when a friend posted photos on facebook. They had gone to the Royal Tyrell museum in Drumheller. It all really sank down last year when I walked inside Melbourne Museum and saw dinosaur bones in person. I know that it's silly-- but for the longest time I honestly thought they were a myth, much like little mermaid makes for a good fairytale. A background for those of you who don't know: I was born and raised in the Philippines until I was about 18 years old. I lived in Bacolod City, where the few museums and historical sites we did have were mostly focused on paintings, old furnitures and hundred-year-old houses.
Personally, it was never taught to me in the Philippines. Not a single history class mentioned dinosaurs in my school. I asked my best friend, cousin, and two fil-canadian friends who did high school in the Phils whether they learned about dinosaurs growing up, and only one said yes. I am definitely not alone in this!
